About the Programme
Community Based Primary Health Care Services (CBPHCS) is a flagship health programme of the Government of West Bengal, implemented through Urban Local Bodies under the guidance of the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA). The programme was initiated in 2006 and is currently operational in 71 Urban Local Bodies across the state, including Dhulian Municipality. It is funded by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal.
Objective
The primary objective of CBPHCS is to provide quality primary health care services and referral support to the urban poor and other vulnerable sections of society living within the municipal area.
Services under CBPHCS
Under this programme, the following services are generally provided:
Primary health care services at the community level Maternal and child health care
Immunization support
Health awareness and outreach activities
Referral services to higher health facilities
Support through Honorary Health Workers (HHWs) and First Tier Supervisors (FTSs)
Distribution of essential medicines (as per approved guidelines)
Regular health monitoring and reporting
Dhulian Municipality is actively implementing the CBPHCS programme to improve access to primary healthcare for its citizens, especially those residing in underserved and lowincome areas.
The programme is monitored and supported by the Health Wing of SUDA and the Department of Health & Family Welfare.
